Students applying to the University of Missouri graduate program to earn a PhD in biochemistry should have a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, chemistry or one of the life sciences. The department recommends a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and a Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score higher than 1200.
Deadlines
The deadline for receiving completed applications is January 15, 2010, for admission starting Fall 2010. An application is not considered complete until all requested information has been received.
Application process
- Students should first apply to the Biochemistry Department, with no application fee, using either the online application system or the downloadable PDF.
- Once an applicant has been offered admission into the program, he or she must apply to the MU Graduate School and pay an application fee ($45 for U.S. residents; $60 for international students).
- Biochemistry will submit all original transcripts, Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores to the MU Graduate School on behalf of the applicant.
Applications should include the following:
- Biochemistry graduate program application. Apply online, or use the downloadable PDF.
- Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions applicant has attended. Submit by mail.
- Three letters of reference using our reference PDF. Submit by mail.
- 500-word personal statement about your goals and experience. Submit electronically or by mail.
- Official GRE scores. Submit using institution code 6875 and department code 0202.
- International applicants: If your first language is not English, please submit your official TOEFL scores using institution code 6875 and department code 34.
